An exploration of watercolor and illustration techniques inspired by the desire to tell my young children a simplified version of “The Odyssey”. Seeking a personal language and a preferred concept for the book became an opportunity of expression. Finding a simple and fun way to communicate Homer’s epic, Odysseus’ adventures in the Aegean Sea, to 5 and 8 year old children sparked this design process. The concepts have shifted from reinterpreting antique greek vase figures contrasting with contemporary backgrounds to focusing on expressing movement with cut out shapes or communicating the sense of loss and loneliness in a labyrinth-like sea. The use of blue is predominant and abstractionism has been considered as a way to give the child a possibility to imagine their own versions without creating a literal illustration of places and characters but rather transmitting feeling through color and shapes.
Tree hotel “Il Nido” in Lago Maggiore, Italy. “Il Nido” is a dream project that bases in the wisdom of plants and environmental conservation its founding grounds. In ten rooms perched high in the air and nestled amongst the foliage, suspended in the void almost by magic, just below the tree canopies in the premises of a 10.000 m2 forest in Lago Maggiore, rises an opportunity for sustainable construction research and also a focal point for forest conservation activities. All rooms are to be built using different designs and concepts camouflaged with the context and inspired by an element of nature: pine cone, spider web, nest, etc. Here some of the sketches and design boards for the initial conceptual work. We coordinated and designed the conceptual bases and design guidelines along with one preliminary design for one of the rooms.
Note: Graphic design of conceptual boards designed in house, outsourcing template graphics. Architectural/ conceptual proposal designed in house.

Branding strategy, branding visuals, social media design and brand packaging for new companies and for creatives.
MELAOS DE LA ISLA. Based of of a tropical Caribbean island. “Melaos de la Isla” started as a family owned company producing artisanal jams, pickles, syrups and conserves. Their esthetic conveys a joie de vivre and the array of colors as vibrant as the tropical fruits they use. Bold yet minimalistic, Melaos has become a strong and identifiable brand.
PRADOS DE PUNTA CANA. In the idyllic setting of Dominican Republic island, a construction company is set to develop a paradise residential compound of seven housing independent “residencies” lots. Offering low impact island living housing, the company needed a brand for the ambitious project. The high-end minimalistic and tropical-chic aesthetics contrasts with the soothing turquoise brand colors evoking the crystal waters of Punta Cana. The palm Cana, native of the area, is the brand icon used throughout the elements: billboards, brochures, collateral.
VOLUKINECROMIAS. The visual language of Romero-Matos is molded under the artistic currents of kinetic art and the aesthetics of the rhythms of virtual movement. Pictorically, it is based on optical illusions and the vibration of color in the retina. His works of moving color change appearance depending on the multiple combinations of points of view and mixes of the reflection of light on the geometric elements and compositions. It's a dance of light, shapes and color where readings can be infinite. The art pieces and compositions are three-dimensional and lift off the two-dimension base with fixed elements arranged so that the viewer discovers the changes in an interactive integration between art and man. The logo design combines the artwork core structural elements with the name main letters V & K, angles and lines that evoke the artist’s work.
